Up until now, the Wiser! Community has gotten together on Slack, which is great if you have Slack for work purposes, but a barrier if you’re only going to use it for Wiser!
So, today I’m turning on the Chat feature on Substack. You’ll still need an app, the Substack app, to get involved, but I’m figuring that since you’re a reader on Substack already, this is less of a barrier than using Slack.
Substack Chat is a conversation space in the Substack app that is set up exclusively for Wiser! subscribers — kind of like a group chat or live hangout. I’ll post short prompts, thoughts, and updates that come my way, and you can jump into the discussion.
To join our chat, you’ll need to download the Substack app, now available for both iOS and Android. Chats are sent via the app, not email, so turn on push notifications so you don’t miss conversation as it happens.
How to get started
Download the app by clicking this link or the button below. Substack Chat is now available on both iOS and Android.
Open the app and tap the Chat icon. It looks like two bubbles in the bottom bar, and you’ll see a row for my chat inside.
That’s it! Jump into my thread to say hi, and if you have any issues, check out Substack’s FAQ.
Do you want to Un-Clutter your Inbox?
My guess is that you like newsletters. and that your Inbox has brand new emails because you’re on a mailing list somewhere. You don’t want to lose them, but you also don’t want to see them in amongst the important stuff every time to open your Inbox.
Here’s the solution…
Meco: the best app for newsletter reading
Finding newsletters and information emails in the Inbox can be frustrating, noisy and a distraction. Plus it’s easy to lose control of your subscriptions which you dont want to let go off, but also don’t need to see all the time.
Now you can enjoy your newsletters outside the inbox with Meco, an app built for reading. Plus it’s completely free.
About Wiser!
The main weekly Wiser! newsletter and all the content are still hosted on my website at rickhuckstep.com. You’ll find everything you need there about my work. And whilst I love the Ghost platform that I use to host my website, Substack is killing it when it comes to content distribution - whether that’s newsletters, podcasts or video.
Chat is a super addition to support Community Building, and the latest feature, Notes is a viable alternative to Twitter, but without the anger, rage and algorithmic biases of Elon Musk.
